craig aleCan’t get enough of Big Z, you say? Well, neither can we! As we’re counting down the days, until Star Trek Online is officially released, Executive Producer  Craig Zinkievich has been making the gaming media rounds. He had a chance to do another cool Q and A, recently. This time, sitting down with DrunkenGamer, from Thirteen 1 Magazine.

Here are some of the highlights:

(T1) Other than some concept art and the Star Trek name,
is this entirely a Cryptic project?

(CZ) “All of the technology is based on Cryptic’s proprietary engine.
…if someone told you that you could design Star Trek Online,
would you even look at someone else’ design doc?”

(T1) Will you be able to play as self serving Ferengi if you’re not
interested in exploring and want to profit from other factions
fighting against each other?

(CZ) “At launch, you’ll have to suppress your free “enterprise” urges.
If you want to play as a Ferengi, you’ll have to do it within the confines
of Starfleet.”

(T1) How often can we expect to run into well known characters from the franchise,
and will they be voiced by their original actors?

(CZ) “You’ll run into references to the characters, or perhaps others of their
race – but likeness rights tend to get sticky and expensive, so we
stayed away from actual appearances.”

Given what we know about Zacharay Quinto’s involvement with Star Trek Online, it may not be out of the possibility to see a familiar face…or voice in STO? We hope to have DG on episode 1.5 of STOradio, due out at the end of the week.

  1. Sweet. Can’t wait to get my hands on this game.

  2. i totaly agree!

  3. Mirror Universe is almost always a good thing. Evil. You know what I mean.

  4. I LOVE the idea of going to the Mirror Universe. This is almost like saying…it’s a game, WITHIN a game. Now, I could be wrong, but what I see happening is missions in the MU that affect the PU.
